The beach is actually in the village of Sagres. As it is facing South is is mainly used when the swell in the Atlantic is more than , say 2 meters and more. Or Southerly wind. Southerly winds are not frequent.

Several surf schools operate at the beach, but only when the Atlantic swell is to big. Else they work on the West coast.
